SPECIAL NOTES

PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!!!

PARKING

ALL parking at the event will be paid parking in 2008. The Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center will continue to charge $5.00 per day for a full-day parking pass to park on the Host Resort property during the conference for those who are not overnight hotel guests. Your paid parking ticket should be kept so that you can re-enter the lot on a given day. The parking across RT 30/Lincoln Highway East on the Dutch Wonderland Theater lot closest to the Host Resort will also charge a $5.00 per day parking fee in 2008.

SEWING MACHINE

Bernina of America will provide a limited number of machines for classroom use at no charge to the user.  However, you must reserve that machine on your QHC class registration form by marking the appropriate space on the form before you send it to QHC.  The machines will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.  You will receive confirmation of a machine reserved for your use in a separate letter directly from Bernina of America, NOT from QHC.  There will be a delay between the time you receive your class confirmation from QHC and your machine reservation from Bernina.  Register early to assure a machine is available for your use.  If you are not accustomed to sewing with a Bernina, please plan to bring your own machine.  Please note: if you register for any class with Carol Blevins or Nancy Johnson-Srebro, there is no need to register for a machine to use in that class.  If you choose to bring your own machine, bring a standard three-prong extension cord as you may need it to reach a power source.  Should you have a particular situation with which to deal regarding sewing machines, please contact the QHC office.

SUPPLIES AND KITS

Special items listed for classes will be available in class or from a vendor in the Merchant Mall.  If your class description lists a kit fee or items to be purchased in class, all these supply/kit fees are to be paid directly to the teacher. It will be most helpful if you have the correct change.  QHC does its best to make sure you know all costs and items included in these fees up front.  If asked to purchase an unlisted item, it is due to the teacher’s not informing QHC of this item/fee in advance.  Note: Cynthia England/England Designs will have a booth in the Merchant Mall again this year.  Keep this Registration Packet as it contains most of the supply lists for all the classes being offered at QHC 2008.  No separate supply list will be sent to you (unless otherwise noted), so please do not lose this.

BASIC SUPPLIES

Basic sewing supplies include those items which you would normally have on hand for sewing.  These may include: threads, scissors, needles (both sewing and quilting), thimble(s), rulers, seam ripper.  Other items, such as a clip-on light for instance, which make sewing easier for you, should be considered a basic sewing supply.

CLASSROOM LOCATIONS

In order to offer the many teachers and classes requested, some classes will be held at the Quality Inn, Lancaster (formerly America’s Best Inn), and at the Country Inn and Suites.  These properties are adjacent to the Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center on the same side of the highway, to the west side of the Host Resort, and there is a paved walking pathway from the Host Resort to the Country Inn and Suites and on to the Quality Inn.  Parking is also available at both facilities.  Classes held at the Country Inn and Suites and the Quality Inn MAY require the use of a sewing machine.  At the time of publication, this includes the classes of Einmo and the Scilianos at the Quality Inn and McElroy and Cantrell at the Country Inn and Suites.  The Host and the other inns are working toward a smooth transportation system for your convenience. PLEASE NOTE: Enrollment numbers may necessitate changes to these assignments—final assignments will be listed in your on-site program.

SACK SITTERS

The Red Rose Quilters Guild of Lancaster will again provide sack sitting service. Look for them on the Ballroom Lobby level of the main building of the Host Resort. A modest fee per item will be charged to relieve you of the task of carting around tons of bags or class equipment.

QUILT APPRAISALS

You may schedule an appraisal for your old or new quilt/s or top/s, blocks or quilted wearable art with Phyllis Twigg Hatcher (see biography section for more information about Phyllis).  You can schedule one by marking the appraisal item slot on the registration form and writing in the number of items you wish to have appraised.  Scheduling will be done on a first come-first served basis.  You will be notified of the time for your session on a separate form mailed along with your class confirmation form.  Appraisals will be done in a secured area of the main exhibit hall.  It takes approximately 30 minutes to complete an appraisal which includes a consultation about the quilt/item and a confidential written appraisal.  These items are received at the end of the appraisal session.  If research is advised and you choose to have that done, the completed appraisal will be mailed to you within a week to ten days.  It is also possible, if you cannot attend and your quilt is in the show, to have the quilt appraised as it hangs.  The appraisal will then be sent to you after the show.  Please follow the process above for registering AND enclose a separate check for the number of items you are having appraised made payable to Phyllis Twigg Hatcher.

Fees:  Written Appraisal per quilt/item………..$45.00

Please note that you must pay the registration fee even if having your quilt(s) appraised is the only function in which you wish to participate at QHC.  If you cannot schedule an appraisal in advance, check with the QHC registration desk upon arrival to see if any openings remain in the schedule.  This is a special service for those attending QHC.

REFUND CHECKS

All refund checks will expire 60 days after show close. That date will be May 29, 2008. This means that if you receive a refund check from QHC, you MUST cash it within 60 days of the show closing (March 30). Checks held longer will not be honored NOR re-issued. Your registration implies agreement with this policy.

This is your Registration Packet for QHC 2008.  It contains most of the supply lists for all of the classes (except as otherwise noted).  No additional supply sheets will be sent.  Please keep this packet for your information.
