From www.qhconline.com Teacher Biographies Dierdra A. McElroy, of Lathrop, CA, learned about the styles and techniques unique to Tahitian quilting in a most direct way, by growing up there. With a native Tahitian mentor she learned the basics of the style without doing the quilting until after she and her family had left the island. She currently operates and is expanding Roxanne Products, the business developed by her mother, quilter, author, teacher Roxanne McElroy, before her death in 1997. Along with teaching and developing techniques and tools for quilters, Didi markets books, videos, tools, patterns and kits for quilters. Her background in art and biomedical science has assisted her in promoting a technique known as “That Perfect Stitch” which produces more precise quilting and is biomedically sound producing fewer physical problems for the quilter. The most recent development is a technique called “Channel Appliqué”.
