Herbort, Diane

Diane Herbort, of Arlington, VA, has a degree in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati. Her time spent working in the garment industry helped to open her eyes to a wide range of fabrics, sewing techniques and design styles. Dianes’ love of vintage needlework , clothing and embellishments is reflected in the style of her own fiber art. She finds teaching quilters and judging shows to be more rewarding that guessing what will be this season’s best-selling fashions. Diane has participated in ten editions of the invitational Fairfield and Bernina Fashion Shows. She has co-authored three books: “Gardening with Ribbons”, “Old Glories” and “The Quiltwear Book”. Her articles and designs have appeared in many magazines, including “Quilting Arts”, “Quilter’s Newsletter” and British Patchwork and Quilting”. Diane enjoys traveling with her husband Jeff, who is very patient about her habit of collecting found objects and bits of paper for her collages and quilts. Diane has been the coordinator-commentator for the Quilter's Heritage Celebration Fashion Show since 2003.
