Virginia Siciliano, of Lebanon, PA, has been quilting for over 20 years. She enjoys taking traditional patterns and using them in unique ways. Virginia finds color selection and placement, fabric choice and hand quilting the most exciting aspects of the quilting process. Among her achievements are a third place award at the American Quilters Society, Paducah Ky. 2001, “traditional pieced” category. At the Vermont Quilt Festival 2001 she received “Best Pieced Traditional” and blue ribbon for points. In New York quilts she received a blue ribbon for points and the judge’s choice awards. At the Smithtown Stitchers 2002 show Virginia received First place (blue ribbon) in the traditional pieced category and the “Hand Quilting” award. At the Eastern Long Island Quilters Guild show, 2001 she received a merit award and the viewers choice. At the Maine quilt show in 2001 she received first place in traditional pieced and the judges choice awards. Her quilt “Samarkand” was chosen to be displayed at the Japan Quilt Expo in Tokyo Japan. “Samarkand” was featured in the book “Foundation Borders” by Jane Hall and Dixie Haywood and published by the American Quilters Society. Together with her husband, George, she has been team-teaching for several years. She also taught before they took up her team approach.
