Cynthia England, of Houston, Texas, is a graduate of the Art Institute of Houston and has been creating quilts for more than twenty years. Experimentation with quilting techniques led her to develop her unique style. Straight-line stitching brought her realistic landscape images to life. She is developer and publisher for England Design Studios, which is a pattern company specializing in this technique. Cynthia’s art quilts have been in books and numerous magazines. Her quilts have been honored with many awards (several at Quilter’s Heritage Celebration) including two Best of Show awards at the prestigious International Quilt Association show held annually in Houston, TX during Quilt Festival.
"Piece and Quiet" was distinguished as one of the Hundred Best Quilts of the Twentieth Century. She teaches nationally and internationally. Cynthia is a native Houstonian and resides there with her husband, Warren, and their three children, Stephen, Travis, and Monica.
