Linda Cantrell, was a painter before she was a quilter. She made her first quilt in 1980, and before long she was thinking of pictorial quilts. Applique was a natural choice with fabrics and embroidery thread becoming her paints and brushes.

She is self-taught in applique and quilting. Creating quilts of her own designs is her specialty with her time spent quilting, teaching quilting or thinking about the next one.

Linda was the "Featured Artist" at the 2000 Quilt America Show. Her quilts have won awards at AQS, Quilter’s Heritage Celebration, Quilt America, David and Peter Mancuso Shows, Silver Dollar City Quilt Show, Quilting at the Crossroads, and many other local and national shows.

Linda has quilts in private collections and her work can be seen at the following North Carolina locations:  Duke University Medical Center, NC Governor’s Western Residence, Forsyth Hospital, Wintson Salem, Folk Art Center, Asheville, Health Adventure, Asheville, Western Carolina University, First Citizens Bank, Hendersonville.
