Carol Lee Shirk of Landisville, PA, veered down a different path of creativity in the mid-1980’s when she turned from designing and constructing clothing to the world of quilting.  Begun as an exercise in satin stitch appliqué, her first quilt grew from lap-sized to a king-sized quilt which was made to look like two quilts in one. It received Best of Show in the first show Carol entered.  Seven years ago she incorporated making bobbin lace into her repertoire of skills and has taken lessons from international teachers.  An individualist who enjoys designing her own quilts, Carol now works her bobbin lace creations into her quilting designs.  She has taught for Penn State Cooperative Extension, various quilt shops, and the Lancaster Quilt Museum.  Carol can be found demonstrating bobbin lace making at the Lancaster Quilt Museum and during Conestoga Historical Days.
